2025-26 Student Board Applications Now Open

Hillel is excited to announce applications are now open for the highly coveted 2025-26 student board.  We are looking for the top Jewish student leaders to inspire their peers as together we will build upon a strong, diverse, welcoming Jewish campus community.

Responsibility, Workload AND Title can be flexible
We can discuss after application is submitted

Every position below includes the following responsibilities:

  • Go on coffee or lunch one-on-ones with students to develop meaningful relationships and educate them on opportunities to get involved and/or become leaders

  • Share and promote Hillel events on social media

  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings

  • Implement a mindset and intention around wellness in all programming and interactions​​​

Executive Board Positions Available (click to learn more)

Chairs (Program Leads) 
Meets 1-2 times per month (with Exec)

​Treasurer

  • Oversee the student budget and financial reporting.

  • Manage student-led fundraising initiatives.

  • Work with the President and Hillel staff to allocate and monitor funds.

  • Help student leaders access funding for their programs and initiatives.

  • Research and market grants and scholarships for students through other organizations.

  • Oversee grant opportunities for Service Engagement Interns, LINK, wellness, etc

Social Media & Marketing Chair

  • Develop and manage Hillel’s student-facing social media presence.

  • Create and distribute promotional materials for events and programs through Canva and social media platforms

  • Use creative strategies to increase student engagement through social media platforms.

  • Take photos at Hillel events and/or delegate this to others that will be present at the event

Shabbat Chair

  • Plan a semester-long Shabbat experiences with staff and student leadership too.

  • Develop creative themes and recruit student co-hosts.

  • Create a welcoming and vibrant Shabbat atmosphere.

Holidays Chair

  • Plan and execute programming for Jewish holidays.

  • Partner with Hillel staff to integrate Jewish learning into holiday events.

  • Ensure that holiday events reflect Jewish values and traditions.

  • Holiday’s include but are not limited to: High Holidays (September), Sukkot (September/October), Hanukkah (December), Purim (February/March), Passover (March/April).

Music Chair

  • Develop and lead musical programming for Shabbat and other events.

  • Incorporate music into Jewish experiences on campus.

Wellness Chair

  • Organize mental health and wellness programs, such as check-ins and self-care events.

  • Develop a culture of wellness within Hillel’s student leadership.

  • Coordinate Wellness Wednesday, a weekly initiative to engage students in thoughtful wellness practices.

Networking Chair

  • Build relationships with other student organizations.

  • Organize networking events and strengthen campus partnerships.

FYSH Chair

  • Lead outreach and programming for first-year students.

  • Oversee the big-little program and other first-year initiatives such as welcome bags, tours of Kent/Hillel, and more

  • Create direct opportunities for the class of 2029 to connect them to a Jewish community and help in their transition to college life.

  • Assist staff in recruitment efforts in FYSH Jewish Learning Fellowship in the fall of 2025.

​Programming Chair

  • Develop and execute social and cultural events in and outside of the Hillel building as well as in collaboration with other groups when necessary. 

  • Collaborate with the Exec Board to create signature Hillel experiences.

  • Tailor programs to the audience and ensure proper follow-through such as receiving feedback and cleaning up

Social Action Chair

  • Organize, coordinate, and recruit students for community service and social justice initiatives.

  • Partner with local and national organizations for volunteer opportunities.

  • Serve on LINK and as a service engagement intern with Hillel International (both paid)

  • Monitor opportunities for Jewish students to participate on campus through Community Engaged Learning (CEL) and student groups.

Akron-Kent Relations Chair

  • Strengthen connections between Jewish communities in Akron and Kent.

  • Plan joint programming and partnership opportunities.

Grad Student Chair

  • Develop programming for graduate students.

  • Create opportunities for grad students to connect and engage within Hillel.

LGBTQ+ Chair (RUACH)

  • Ensure inclusivity for LGBTQ+ Jewish students.

  • Partner with other LGBTQ+ organizations on campus.

  • Utilize Kent State’s allocations funding to host large-scale events when possible

Sisterhood Chair (Achoti)

  • Plan programs to build a supportive Jewish community for female-identifying students.

  • Oversee a committee (if deemed one is necessary) and lead by example 

  • Along with Staff, plan a retreat for the Fall and a banquet in the Spring

  • Utilize Kent State’s allocations funding to host large-scale events when possible

Brotherhood Chair (Hebros)

  • Develop programming for male-identifying Jewish students.

  • Oversee a committee (if deemed one is necessary) and lead by example.

  • Utilize Kent State’s allocations funding to host large-scale events when possible

Ambassador Chairs (Volunteer Leaders):

Meets once per month (with Exec & Chairs)

  • Assist Chairs and Execs in executing events and initiatives.

  • Serve as committee members for specialized projects (e.g., Shabbat, Purim).

  • Support outreach and engagement through 1-on-1 conversations with students.

  • Help with event setup, logistics, and participant recruitment.
