Shabbat and Holidays

During Shabbat at Hillel at Kent State, we open our doors for students and their friends, family and supporters to come together and celebrate the precious opportunity we have to take a break from the week and enjoy a warm community atmosphere. Students join together at the Hillel for a service that is usually student-led and to hear some words of wisdom - a D'var Torah given by a student. Shabbat services are immediately followed by a FREE, delicious dinner. All Shabbats begin at 5:30pm, with services at 6:00pm and dinner at 7:00pm.

Besides Shabbat, we mark holiness in time through our various holiday celebrations, primarily with Rosh Hashanah meals and services, Sukkot gatherings, Hanukkah celebrations, Tu B'shvat Seders, Purim festivities, Passover Seders and meals, and important Israel and Holocaust remembrance holidays.
Friday night dinners are FREE for students, due to the generous support from our community.
